Mission and Vision: The mission of the Legal 援助 Society (LAS) is to pursue justice for people in poverty. LAS exists to serve and partner with the diverse Kentucky communities in which our 客户端s reside – seeking to advocate for justice, remove barriers to access to the justice system, and fight for the most vulnerable in our community. - Assist as a member of LAS’s 支持 professional team.
- Assist 客户端s and their families in accessing necessary 支持ive services to enhance civil legal assistance through comprehensive case management services.
- Provide appropriate referrals and information about community service providers.
- Maintain accurate and complete case files. Prepare reports and complete forms required by program policies.
- 面试的客户, assess legal and social work problems, and determine their eligibility for service.
- Advise on and connect to appropriate community resources.
- Advise 客户端s on resources and processes related to LAS services. Provide 支持 to 客户端s as they are served by LAS and follow up as appropriate.
- Design and implement community education activities, 包括车间, 小册子, and presentations to community groups.
- Improve skills and knowledge of legal issues and resources by regularly reading material and participating in training events.
- Become familiar with and develop working relationships with social service agencies and governmental agencies that offer services to Legal 援助-eligible 客户端s.
- Work with LAS employees and volunteers to provide 支持 to 客户端s and education to staff on services that are available through the social worker and other community partners.
- Work with 客户端s and their families to address social determinants of health, 减轻暴力的影响, 药物滥用, 贫穷和其他不利的问题, in order to provide referrals and 支持 that increases 客户端s’ safety, 稳定与健康.
- Support 客户端s in identifying and accomplishing goals through planning and referrals to LAS attorneys and appropriate external agencies.
- Assist LAS attorneys and paralegals to more effectively and efficiently work with 客户端s in a trauma-informed and holistic manner.

- Participate in program activities such as case reviews, unit meetings, and staff meetings. Participate in 状态wide activities, including coalitions and training events.

- Must have demonstrable commitment to understanding and addressing issues of low-income constituents.
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in 社会工作 and/or comparable work experience.
- Must have skills to use office technologies, including case management software.
- Must have excellent interviewing and 客户端 counseling skills and have a commitment to public interest work.
- Must be able to balance administrative and 客户端 advocacy responsibilities.
